Our Mission: Garrison Art Center promotes the creation, exhibition and enjoyment of art. Through its programs the Art Center connects you to new opportunities.
In 1964 a group of community arts enthusiasts produced a show of local artists’ work at the Garrison School to raise funds for the Garrison School Art Fund and to establish Garrison Art Center. Since that time the Art Center has grown from serving hundreds of Garrison residents to serving thousands of residents in the Hudson Valley.
The Hudson Valley was named by National Geographic A Best of the World Must See in 2013. In 2012, Garrison Art Center was named Best Community Art Center by Hudson Valley Magazine and called ‘one of the Valley’s most active arts meccas.’ Previously Garrison, New York, was selected by Hudson Valley Magazine as one of the ten best places to live in the Hudson Valley. Decades before that, the court of public opinion named Garrison as one of the best river towns to visit in the Hudson Valley. And more than a century before that, its majesty was made clear by painters of the Hudson River School. During this half century Garrison Art Center, a 501(c)3, has become a vital part of this unique history by proactively promoting the arts and art education for more than 50 years.
